WORKER BEE!

Gabrielle was so proud of her tower!

A VERY BUSY WEEK!

The kindergartners were hard at work this week!  They worked in their ABC Dictionaries on the letters EFGH and wrote sentences using words that begin with those letters.  They worked on estimation and the numbers 0-5 in math.  On the interactive board they practiced counting and matching groups of pictures that are the same.  They were in the Halloween spirit with fun reading and math lessons and activities.  The kindergartners were able to have their counseling lesson with Mrs. Critchlow in her office this time.  We had a different schoolwide theme each day for Red Ribbon Week and they enjoyed it and learned a lot about making healthy choices.  They wrote in their journals and made a scary Halloween witch to decorate the halls with for the big day.  The field trip was a huge success thanks to the chaperones who so graciously helped us.  The students are really excited about their party on Wednesday.  Please remember to send their costumes in a bag as they will be changing into them after lunch.  The parade will precede the party.  No toy weapons, please.

RED RIBBON WEEK!

The kindergartners are "putting drugs to bed" as they observe the last day of Red Ribbon Week in their jammies!

STUCKMEYER'S PUMPKIN FARM

What a beautiful fall day for a field trip!  Here are a few pictures of the kindergartners with their pumpkins. Thanks, parents and Ms. Alex, for chaperoning and making it such an enjoyable day.

THE VERY BUSY KINDERGARTNERS!

We started our second round of letter of the day on Monday.  In addition to gluing in and drawing pictures of words that begin with the letter of the day, the kindergartners are learning to write simple sentences using our sight words in their ABC Dictionaries.

We continue to work on numbers 0-5.  In addition to our math lessons, we review numbers on the calendar, 100 chart, and the morning message.

We finished testing and report cards will be out in time for parent/teacher conferences.

We welcomed back our wonderful gym teacher with beautiful student-made cards which they presented to her on Wednesday.

On Friday we started a Halloween art project which will be on display in the hall.

The weather forecast is looking good for our field trip on Wednesday.  Thanks, parents, for volunteering to chaperone.  The bus leaves at 12:30.

BUDDING AUTHORS!

Alex and Leo were really excited about reading their books to the class.  Great work, Alex and Leo!

SOCIAL STUDIES!

The kindergartners observed Columbus Day on Friday as they tracked his voyage across the ocean on our world map, watched an instructional video, and made an art project.  They love learning map skills and already know the continents and some of the countries our foreign students and their families are from.  They are very good at saying good morning in the language of the week during our morning meeting.

The kindergartners are practicing their good manners in the cafeteria and I am very proud of them.

We start our second round of letter of the day on Monday and will continue the testing we started last week.

They're very excited about our upcoming field trip and I appreciate the parents who have volunteered to help us.

KINDERGARTEN CREATIVITY!

Two of my talented builders were showing their creative ability while practicing Cooperation, our August Character Word.  Way to go, Camden and Sam!

Z DAY!!

WE'RE ALMOST THERE!  Next week we will have completed our first round of letter of the day. Please send your child's binder to school on Thursday for our ABC celebration.  In our second round we will be working on our ABC Dictionaries.  In math we finished patterns and are now working on #s 0-5.  The kindergartners enjoyed practicing number order as they used the interactive board to put numbers on a clock.  Doing Harcourt math lessons on the computer is also a big hit.  On Monday we will begin testing for report cards and I'm hoping everyone stays well for the next two weeks.  The students are enjoying being authors and illustrators as they choose the Writing Center during Centertime.  Our best buddies in third grade wrote us letters and we look forward to seeing them again soon.  We're very excited about our upcoming field trip to Stuckmeyer's Farm.  Please send in your permission slips.  Parents, I'd love to have you join us for this fun event.
