A MUCH DESERVED BREAK

My kindergartners have been working very hard this past week on third quarter tests and, hopefully, will be just as eager to do well as we finish up this week.  I know they are looking forward to spring break as they happily talk about their plans.  Have a safe, wonderful break with your families, whether you travel somewhere or stay home and enjoy being together.

A NEWBERRY AWARD

Here is a video of Austin reading a story he wrote about Thanksgiving which earned him the Kindergarten Newberry Award.  My students are enjoying wearing the microphone as they present their writings - just like in the movies.

BUDDING AUTHOR

Kindergartners love to talk about subjects that are of interest to them.  I have encouraged them to write about them as well.  This student drew a picture of and wrote about his favorite football team.

SEUSSVILLE

There were a lot of Cats in the Hat purring around room 17 on Friday, March 2.   The kindergartners donned their tall red and white striped hats and red bow ties as they celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday.  In honor of the event, they wrote sentences in their journals about the famed author, drew pictures, read his books and wrote rhyming words.  My students were very excited!  Owen said, "This is the most fun day ever!"
